چکیده

Gasdorf, Helen J. (Northern Regional Research Laboratory, Peoria, Ill.), R. G. Benedict, M. C. Cadmus, R. F. Anderson, and R. W. Jackson. Polymer-producing species of Arthrobacter. J. Bacteriol. 90:147-150.1965.-Two slime-producing microorganisms, designated as NRRL B-1973 and NRRL B-1797, were isolated from a Guatemalan soil sample. Their morphological and physiological characteristics permit their assignment to the genus Arthrobacter. Both cultures produce a large amount of extracellular polysaccharide, the maximal amount being 1.4 g per 3 g of glucose. The carbohydrate constituents of B-1973 polysaccharide are galactose, glucose, and mannuronic acid; those of B-1797 are galactose, glucose, and glucuronic acid. The organisms are morphologically and physiologically alike. The differences between these two cultures and previously described species of Arthrobacter appear sufficient to designate a new species. The name Arthrobacter viscosus sp. n. is proposed.

Complete Genome Sequencing of Protease-Producing Novel Arthrobacter sp. Strain IHBB 11108 Using PacBio Single-Molecule Real-Time Sequencing Technology

A previously uncharacterized species of the genus Arthrobacter, strain IHBB 11108 (MCC 2780), is a Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, nonmotile, cold-adapted, and protease-producing alkaliphilic actinobacterium, isolated from shallow undersurface water from Chandra Tal Lake, Lahaul-Spiti, India. The complete genome of the strain is 3.6 Mb in size with an average 58.97% G+C content.

Production and Characterization of a Polymer from Arthrobacter sp.

An Arthrobacter sp. isolated from a glucose-sucrose agar plate was found to produce a neutral, extremely viscous, opalescent extracellular polymer. Growth, polymer production, and rheological properties and chemical composition of the isolated polymer were examined. The polymer was found to be substantially different from other arthrobacter polymers. Some unusual properties included irreversibl...

Members of the genus Arthrobacter grow anaerobically using nitrate ammonification and fermentative processes: anaerobic adaptation of aerobic bacteria abundant in soil.

Members of the genus Arthrobacter are usually regarded as obligate aerobic bacteria. The anaerobic growth and energy metabolism of two Arthrobacter species were investigated. Arthrobacter globiformis utilized both nitrate ammonification and lactate, acetate and ethanol producing fermentation processes for anaerobic growth. Only nitrate supported anaerobic growth of Arthrobacter nicotianae. Anae...

Genome Sequence of Arthrobacter siccitolerans 4J27, a Xeroprotectant-Producing Desiccation-Tolerant Microorganism

We report the first genome sequence for Arthrobacter siccitolerans 4J27, a newly described desiccation-tolerant species. The complete genome of A. siccitolerans 4J27 has been sequenced and is estimated to be around 5.3 Mb in size, with an average GC content of 65.13%. We predict 4,480 protein-coding sequences (CDSs).

Research Progress on the Actinomyces arthrobacter

The genus Arthrobacter was established in 1947 by Conn & Dimmick. So far, more than 70 recognized species of the genus Arthrobacter have been certified. Its special functions have been widely known by researchers, such as, in agricultural, in medical, in industrial, and in environmental areas, etc. What deserves to be mentioned is that some species of genus Arthrobacter have showed the function...
